Free. Actually free.
QuoxCORE runs on your own hardware at no cost, with no seat count and no trial clock. This page is the whole list.
Prices are USD and come from the same catalogue the store reads.
In plain words
What it is, where it lives, when to reach for it
- What is it
- Everything Quox gives away: the self-hosted platform, the capabilities inside it and every zero-priced plugin.
- Where do I use it
- On a Linux or macOS host you own, in your own QuoxCORE dashboard.
- When would I use it
- When you want agents with real access to your systems before any licence conversation.
- How do I use it
- Early access until launch: run
curl -fsSL https://get.quox.ai | sh, open the dashboard, then add free plugins.
QuoxCORE is the free, self-hosted platform underneath this. What is QuoxCORE
The inventory
Everything on this page costs nothing.
The platform and what ships inside it, every plugin the catalogue prices at zero, four cognitive implants, local inference during its public beta, four protocol specifications and the SDK to build your own.
Five boards. The platform and the capabilities inside it, the plugins the catalogue prices at zero, the implants that ship with every install, the one thing that is free while it is in beta, and the protocol specifications anyone may implement. Costs nothing is a statement about price, not availability: one row is priced at zero and has not shipped, and it carries that badge where it sits.
The platform
BUS-0 · SHIPS WITH EVERY INSTALL14 capabilitiesQuoxCORE is the runtime everything else plugs into. It is not sold, not installed as an add-on, and cannot be removed. These capabilities are inside it: nothing to buy, nothing to activate.
Free plugins
BUS-A · PRICED AT ZERO IN THE CATALOGUE14 pluginsAdd one and an admin installs it from the dashboard. No checkout, no licence key, no card. These are the same rows the store carries, at the same price.
Free QuoxMind implants
BUS-B · FOUR OF TWELVE SHIP FREE4 implantsQuoxMind is twelve cognitive implants. Four of them ship free with every QuoxCORE installation because the platform is worse without them. The other eight are a paid tier, and they are not on this page.
Free during the public beta
BUS-C · A REAL PRICE, NOT CHARGED TODAY1 productThis one is honest rather than generous: the price is real and it is simply not being charged yet. Local Inference is free during the public beta and $89 one-time once the beta ends. Take it now and you have it.
The protocols
BUS-D · APACHE 2.04 specificationsFour specifications, Apache 2.0, with the patent grant that licence carries. Implement them, extend them, redistribute them, build a competing product on them.
The one thing to be precise about. The four protocol specifications are Apache 2.0 and are open source. The platform core uses the Quox Community Source Licence 1.0, which is source-available and is not an open-source licence: self-hosting is free, independent plugins may be sold, and core modification, redistribution and rebranding require permission. The full licensing breakdown is here.
The simplest path
Four steps, from nothing to talking to an agent.
Every command below is one you can actually run, and every prerequisite is stated next to the command that needs it.
- 01
Install QuoxCORE.
One command on a host you own. It pulls the Compose stack and starts it.
$curl -fsSL https://get.quox.ai | shNeeds Git, Docker Compose and a Linux or macOS host.
Early access until launch. The source repos are private, so this installer completes only for early-access customers whose git is signed in to GitHub (for example with gh auth login). Anyone else gets a clear stop message, not a broken install. Public access opens at launch.
Prefer to read what you are running first? Fetch the script without piping it:

Open the dashboard and make an account.
The dashboard is on your own machine. Create the first account, then create an organisation to hold your work.
$quox signup --email [email protected] --name "Your Name"The browser form does the same thing: email, password, Sign In. After creating an org, sign in again so your session carries it.
Quickstart - 03
Add your first LLM API key.
In the dashboard, go to Settings, the Instance scope, then Provider Keys. Paste an OpenAI or Anthropic key and save. Nothing is sent anywhere else: the key lives on your box.
go/settings#instance/provider-keysYou need a key from your own provider account, and an instance admin login to reach the Instance scope. Claude CLI OAuth works instead of a key.
Setup guide - 04
Say hello to CommanderQ.
The dashboard home page is the Command Center, and the Command Center is the chat. Type in the box marked Message CommanderQ and press Enter.
sayAsk it: what can you actually do here?No separate chat page to find. The home route is the chat surface.
What QuoxCORE is
What that gives you
Six things you can do on the first afternoon.
Nothing here needs a purchase. Each one runs on the free platform and the free plugins listed above.
Watch the estate.
An operations wall and a security view, on your own hardware, with real service health rather than a demo feed.
Keep the receipts.
Every governed action leaves an envelope, and the layer audit shows what decided what. Tied together by one correlation id.
Stop it before it acts.
Sensitive actions wait for a human. You choose which ones, and the wait is recorded alongside the decision.
Give it a goal and walk away.
A long-running loop that keeps going toward one objective, with every turn witnessed and every turn stoppable.
Start from a workflow.
Browse a large library of workflow templates instead of starting at a blank canvas, and run the ones that are ready today.
Back it up before you break it.
Backup, restore, migrate and update the whole install from the dashboard, with the backup verified by checksum.
If you build things
The SDK will be free, and so is the Developer Kit.
The Plugin SDK is in private preview and not on npm yet. Once the developer path is rebuilt, you will be able to build a plugin with its own backend, sign it and install it on your own instance. No date is set.
The Plugin SDK, in private preview
The scaffolder generates a project with a manifest, an entry point and a dev server, and the build produces the installable package. It is not published to npm yet. Early access is through the developer residency.
Needs Node and a QuoxCORE instance to install into.
Plugin SDKThe Developer Kit, at no price
The Layer SDK, the CLI, the Layer Playground and starter templates for building your own AOCL processing layers. Free to everyone, with no licence to buy.
Developer KitWhat signing actually proves
An Ed25519 keypair and a signer ship in the SDK today. Verification runs only when your organisation has pinned at least one publisher key; with none pinned, an unsigned package installs. Approve and reject belong to your instance administrator. There is no Quox review team reading submissions.
The trust model, with its limitsThe pro tip. Everything on this page is a plugin or a platform capability, and yours can be either. Build the thing you wish existed, run it on your own instance under the same gates and the same evidence trail, and list it if you want to. Start at the SDK overview.
Take it further
When free is not enough, three things worth paying for.
Start with the free half.
One command, your own hardware, and the whole list above.
Needs Git, Docker Compose and a Linux or macOS host.
