Licensing philosophy
Quox publishes open protocols and developer SDKs, alongside a proprietary, source-available platform. QuoxCORE is free to run and self-host for business or personal use, and may be extended through independently owned plugins. The core itself is not licensed for modification, redistribution, rebranding or competing managed-service offerings.
The free self-hosted licence does not require seat fees or a Quox account. Separate written licences can authorise white-label, OEM and hosted platform offerings.
Open ProtocolsApache License 2.0
Protocol specifications are fully open. Anyone can implement, extend, and redistribute. The Apache 2.0 license includes an explicit patent grant, protecting implementers from patent claims.

Quox Community Source Licence 1.0
The operative licence is published in each protected product repository's LICENSE file. These are proprietary, source-available terms, not open-source terms.
- Free: Self-host unmodified Quox for personal and business operations without machine, seat or revenue limits.
- Extend: Develop, publish and sell independently authored plugins, skills, integrations, workflows and agents.
- Protected core: No unauthorised changes, derivative core distributions, repackaging or rebranding.
- Commercial licences: Contact Quox for white-label, OEM, redistribution or hosted/managed Quox platform rights.
- No change date: New Community Source versions do not automatically convert to Apache 2.0.
- Separate licences: Apache and MIT repositories remain under their existing permissive terms.
Commercial licensing
If your use case requires redistribution, white-labeling, or offering Quox software as a managed service, commercial licenses are available. Contact us to discuss terms.
